Samson’s Curse

BY LEONARD PIGG

The greatest cruelties suffered were usually from the opposite sex

I’ve had managers whose crassness and bluster would make dictators cringe

Supervisors with delusions of grandeur, but no intellectual prowess to back it up

Hateful individuals given an ounce of power, which is immediately abused

Being louder doesn’t mean being right, I blame their piss-poor parents

I want to call their parents and thank them for creating a monster

There were the kids in school that found taunting others as their past time

Harassing anyone taller, smarter, dumber, thinner, heavier or shorter than them

Trying to with the popularity contest, not knowing it won’t matter down the road

Poking fun at all of the people not as well off as their family might be

Not all of the bullies in life are men, despite the stereotype

I should find their favorite things and burn them in front of them

Lazy partners that think just being there is enough to maintain a friendship

Materialism was chosen over realism, too much is never enough

Psychic vampires whose aim is to pull every erg of life from your day

Relationships that were one-sided and suffered an imbalance

Not unlike the kind she had in her emotional state

Some suffer from mental illness, while they reveled in it

I searched for friends and found a rogue’s gallery of enemies instead

Truth was an anomaly in a dark world of falsehoods

I looked for love, yet all they taught was hatred

The cruelest thing is to leave them to drown in their wretchedness

Forget these sorry people, regret these feeble people

There is someone and something better out there

Choose a higher road and a brighter day
